Black box (the flight recorder)
The help for this page of the Version 2 transmitter, in its newest words. A transmitter on V2 B92 or older shows older words.
On the transmitter: Model setupRotorflightBlack box
Set up the flight controller's flight recorder. The settings are the same in every bank ('All banks' at the top left).
It needs the model connected, with the safety on, and a Version 2 receiver with Bluetooth.
With no model, the page shows the backup on the card.
'Save' then changes the backup.
The change is offered to the model when it next connects.
The memory lines and 'Erase all logs' need the model.
Tap the box beside 'When', 'Where' or 'How often' to step through its choices. Tap the seconds to type a number.
When
Whenever armed: records every flight, no switch needed.
While switch on: records while the Black box switch is on.
Armed + switch: records when armed with that switch on.
Never: turns it off.
The two switch choices need a 'Black box recording' switch on the 'Switches ...' page. 'Save' asks if there is none.
Where
FC memory: the flight controller's own memory chip, the usual choice. Its size shows under 'Memory' (16 MB on many boards).
SD card and Serial logger: for boards that have them.
Nowhere: only when 'When' is Never. 'Save' refuses otherwise.
How often
One record every so many control loops: 1 in 1, 2, 4 and so on up to 128. The brackets show how many records a second.
1 in 8 is plenty for tuning and governor problems; 1 in 1 or 2 for vibration hunting, but the memory fills that much faster.
'Where' and 'How often' apply when the flight controller starts.
With the model connected, a save that changes them restarts it.
After disarm
Seconds of recording after you disarm, 0 to 60.
They keep the landing in the log.
Memory
How much of the memory chip is used, and whether it is ready to record. It says 'Full: erase before flying' at 95 %.
Overwrite oldest on: when full, it wipes the oldest flight.
Overwrite oldest off: when full, recording stops.
'Erase all logs' asks, then deletes every flight log for good.
The flight controller beeps while it erases (10 to 60 seconds).
To keep the logs, first download them with the Configurator.
Save and OK
'Save' appears once something is changed.
It writes, stores and reads back.
If it says 'Not all saved', the flight controller was recording or erasing: wait, then save again.
'OK' leaves; if a change was not saved, it asks first.
